The quintessentially civilized port city of Victoria is situated in the balmy Southwest corner of British Columbia, Canada on Vancouver Island. This former British Colony is about 12,500 square miles in size and is famous for its natural beauty, hospitality and for the late 19th century ambience of its largest city, Victoria, British Columbia.

If you are crossing the Canadian Border from the US:

Identification for Canada Customs and Immigration is required. Carry a passport if possible Those re-entering the US require a valid passport. If you are not a citizen of the U.S. or Canada, you are required to carry a valid passport and/or the appropriate visa. If you are uncertain of your status, please inquire before making reservations. For children, you are required to present a birth certificate. If children are not traveling in the company of their parents, they are also required to have a signed letter of permission from a parent authorizing their visit to the U.S. or Canada. Links to Schedules: Car Carrying Ferries Between::
Vancouver and Victoria via Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay Terminals B.C. (approximately 25 miles south of Vancouver). This ferry is nearest to Vancouver International Airport and easily accessible from Seattle by way of Interstate 5. Ferry passes through the scenic Gulf Islands and arrives about 20 miles north of Victoria at Swartz Bay. Large modern vessels (sometimes you see whales) with the most frequent and convenient sailings from the mainland (hourly in summer). Reservations possible and recommended in high season if you must make a certain sailing. There is a surcharge for ferry reservations.

Vancouver and Victoria via Nanaimo via Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay Terminals, B.C. (located between Whistler and Vancouver). Arrives at Nanaimo, about 2 hours drive north of Victoria. Large modern ferries with frequent sailings (hourly in the summer). The drive down the Island is scenic with tourist attractions along the way but can be congested near Victoria in peak season. There is a surcharge for reservations but it is wise to make them if you must be on a certain sailing in high season.

San Juan Islands and Victoria
via Anacortes, Wa and Sidney BC,
Washington (north of Seattle). Passes through the scenic San Juan Islands and arrives at Sidney, about 18 miles north of Victoria. Two sailings daily at best. Because of stops along the way, this is a longish trip of 2 1/2 hours but you are passing through prime whale watching territory. Essential to reserve and arrive early in high season. If there is any chance you might be delayed, take the ferry from Tsawwassen above.
 

Olympic Peninsula - Port Angeles and Victoria,
Port Angeles, Washington. Arrives in Victoria harbor downtown just two blocks from Andersen House B&B. Up to 4 sailings daily in high season. Very busy. Sometimes it's necessary to arrive hours before sailing times (so call ahead when you are travelling). They now take reservations (recommended).

Seattle and Victoria, The Victoria Clipper arrives in downtown Victoria's harbour taking 2 to 2 1/2 hours to get from Seattle. More expensive than the other ferries but saves you a lot of time. Not recommended for rough weather. Arrives 2 blocks from Andersen House B&B.
Bellingham and Victoria, (high season only). Arrives in Victoria's downtown harbour (2 blocks from Andersen House)
Port Angeles and Victoria, . (May 29 thru Sept 26). Arrives in Victoria's downtown harbour (2 blocks from Andersen House)
Friday Harbor and Victoria (May 29 thru Sept 6). Arrives in Victoria's downtown harbour (2 blocks from Andersen House
